What is organic growth?

Green algae, black algae, lichen and moss is considered organic growth. It tends to grow in damp shady areas on roofs, driveways, patios, decks, house siding etc. This organic growth can damage areas by retaining moisture. It is best to clean these areas before the damage sets in, especially on roofs and wooden surfaces. If left untreated, asphalt shingles would deteriorate and wooden surfaces would rot rapidly.

Artillery fungus

This fungus lives in contaminated mulch. The spores shoot up onto the vinyl siding. They resemble black little spots. Unfortunately, we are unable to remove them. It is best to remove the contaminated mulch and replace with new.

How do we clean organic growth?

On house siding, we saturate plants and shrubs around the property with water. This protects your plants and shrubbery from the cleaner. Afterwards, we apply a cleaning solution that kills the organic growth. We let it soak for a bit, then we wash it off. It really doesnt take much water pressure to rinse it off. Afterwards, we rinse all of the exterior windows.

How do we clean roofs?

Similar to washing house siding. We saturate plants and shrubs around the property with water. We bag the exiting drains of the downspouts. This catches any excess cleaner that drains off the roof. We lightly spray on the cleaner with little pressure and let it set. It is not necessary to rinse it off. All organic growth is killed instantly. Over a period of weeks to months, the dead organic matter naturally disintergrates and leaves your roof clean. Any residing algae comes off fairly quickly, usually after a hard rain. Lichen takes longer. You will see it change color from green to brown. Brown meaning that it is dead. It eventually comes off over a period of time.

How do we clean concrete surfaces?

We apply a cleaning solution. Afterwards, we use pressurized water to clean the surface. Concrete is durable and a good substrate to pressure wash. Any areas that are in bad shape would be discussed with customer beforehand. We also can give an estimate on any masonry repairs if needed after washing.
